Continuing the humanitarian values towards animals and the relentless pursuit of animal welfare in Vietnam, in September 2022, vegan cosmetics brand Cocoon and the Asian Animal Foundation (AAF) conducted a signing ceremony to collaborate at Yok Don National Park: Together to end elephant riding and develop sustainable tourism in Dak Lak province.
This project further stems from the alignment in operating goals between the two parties and the alarming decline in the elephant population in Dak Lak. In just 20 years (2000-2020), the province has witnessed a drastic reduction of 100 elephants, with an average of 5 elephants per year succumbing to death, primarily due to old age and exploitation for tourism activities.
We understand that the true "home" and happiness for elephants is in the green forests, not in tourist attractions. Their most beautiful moments are spent wandering, foraging, playing, mud bathing, and socializing with their own kind, rather than being used to carry tourists. Therefore, through this program, we aim to strongly spread the message of "End Elephant Riding" and strive towards transitioning from elephant riding tourism to elephant-friendly tourism in Dak Lak. Elephants deserve a habitat of freedom and happiness, rather than serving unnecessary human tourism activities as they currently do.

Accordingly, we proudly introduce a limited edition "Together to End Elephant Ridding" for our exfoliating products made from Dak Lak coffee. These products will be officially launched on all Cocoon platforms starting on November 1, 2022.
The products will be adorned with a new vibrant green color - the color of lush and refreshing forests, which enclose and protect a family of elephants, allowing them to live a happy life without exhausting themselves with tourist activities. In particular, the phrase "Together to End Elephant Ridding" will be prominently embossed and highlighted, with the hope of calling for inspiring strong support from everyone to join us in conserving elephants in Dak Lak, starting with stopping elephant riding. When the demand for elephant riding is no longer considered necessary in each individual's mindset, it will be the first step to give back to the elephants the life they deserve.
For each product sold, Cocoon will donate 10,000 VND to the AAF fund in order to support the welfare of elephants in Yok Don National Park and contribute to accompanying elephant owners and mahouts in transitioning from elephant riding tourism to elephant-friendly tourism in Dak Lak.
